ROANOKE

ALPHA WEYENETH, WELL KNOWN RETIRED FARMER, DIED AT HIS HOME IN THIS CITY FRIDAY MORNING. HE HAD BEEN AFFLICTED WITH DROPSY FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS AND HAD BEEN CONFINED TO HIS HOME FOR THE PAST SIX MONTHS. MR. WEYENETH WAS WELL KNOWN, HAVING LIVED IN THIS VICINITY ALL HIS LIFE. HE WAS PAST 72 YEARS OF AGE AND RETIRED FROM THE FARM AND MOVED TO TOWN FOUR YEARS AGO. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE, FOUR DAUGHTERS AND SEVEN SONS; ALSO THREE SISTERS. THE FUNERAL WAS HELD TUESDAY MORNING. SHORT SERVICES WERE HELD AT THE HOME AND THENCE TO THE APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH SOUTHWEST OF TOWN, ELDER MICHAEL MANGOLD BEING IN CHARGE OF THE SERVICES. THE INTERMENT WAS IN THE CHURCH CEMETERY.

MRS. DAVID GUDEMAN DIED AT FRANCISVILLE, IND., ON JAN. 26. THE FUNERAL WAS HELD AT THAT PLACE ON TUESDAY, MRS. GUDEMAN WAS MISS WEYENETH BEFORE HER MARRIAGE. ONE SISTER, MRS. STEIDINGER, LIVES AT FAIRBURY AND ANOTHER SISTER, MRS. PRISCILLA LIEBIG IN ROANOKE. THE LATE ALPHAIA WEYENETH OF THIS PLACE WAS A BROTHER. MR. AND MRS. GUDEMAN LIVED NEAR HERE FOR A TIME AND WELL KNOWN TO OUR PEOPLE.

SPECIAL TRAIN RUN FROM PEKIN TO ROANOKE CARRYING FRIENDS.

THE FUNERAL OF MRS. HENRY ALTORFER WAS HELD SUNDAY AFTERNOON FROM THE APOSTOLIC CHURCH AND IS SAID TO HAVE BEEN THE LARGEST FUNERAL EVER HELD IN THAT VICINITY. A SPECIAL TRAIN WAS RUN FROM PEKIN, CARRYING SCORES OF FRIENDS FROM PEKIN, GROVELAND, TREMONT, PEORIA AND MORTON. FRIENDS WERE ALSO PRESENT FROM INDIANA, CISSNA PARK, FAIRBURY, GRIDLEY AND ELGIN. THE SERVICES WERE CONDUCTED BY ELDER HOHULIN OF CONGERVILLE AND ELDER HARTMAN OF WASHINGTON.

MRS. MARTIN STEIDINGER DIED MONDAY NIGHT

MRS. MARTIN STEIDINGER, FOR MANY YEARS A RESIDENT OF THIS CITY AND VICINITY, PASSED AWAY AT HER HOME ON EAST ELM STREET ON MONDAY NIGHT AT 11:55 O’CLOCK. SHE WAS AGED 82 YEARS, EIGHT MONTHS AND FOUR DAYS.

EUNICE (WEYENETH) STEIDINGER WAS BORN IN WOODFORD COUNTY, DECEMBER 2, 1864, A DAUGHTER OF THE REV. BENEDICT AND ELIZABETH (BLUNIER) WEYENETH.

ON JULY 1, 1888, AT ROANOKE, SHE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO MARTIN STEIDINGER, FOR MANY YEARS THEY RESIDED ON A FARM SOUTHEAST OF FAIRBURY, MOVING INTO THIS CITY 15 YEARS AGO.

SURVIVING BESIDES HER HUSBAND ARE THE FOLLOWING CHILDREN: MRS. EVADIA BAHLER, FAIRBURY; MRS. NETTIE EDELMAN, OF BERN, KAN.; ELIAS, JOSEPH SALOME, BENJAMIN, EUNICE AND URBAN, OF FAIRBURY. THIRTY-NINE GRANDCHILDREN AND THREE GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN ALSO SURVIVE.

FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD AT THE CHRISTIAN APOSTOLIC CHURCH, OF WHICH SHE WAS A MEMBER, YESTERDAY AFTERNOON AT ONE O’CLOCK. INTERMENT WAS IN THE EAST GRACELAND CEMETERY.

REV. WEYENETH DIED AT 1:45 A. M. YESTERDAY AT METHODIST HOSPITAL, WHERE HE WAS ADMITTED SEPT. 27.

A FORMER RESIDENT OF W. RICHWOODS BLVD., REV. WEYENETH WAS MINISTER OF SHERIDAN ROAD APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH. HE WAS A SUPERVISOR AT THE ABC CO. 35 YEARS PRIOR TO RETIRING IN 1956.

BORN JAN. 4, 1891, IN ROANOKE, A SON OF ALPHAI AND ROSA GERBER WEYENETH, HE MARRIED EMMA HODEL IN ROANOKE MARCH 27, 1921.

SURVIVING ARE HIS WIDOW; ONE SON, ROBERT OF FORT WAYNE, IND.; TWO BROTHERS, JIM OF ROANOKE AND LESTER OF PEORIA; FOUR SISTERS, MRS. ANNA LEMAN AND MISS ESTHER WEYENETH, BOTH OF ROANOKE, MRS. ELIZABETH BROQUARD OF PEORIA AND MRS. MARY REIMAN, IN FLORIDA; AND TWO GRANDCHILDREN.

HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY FOUR BROTHERS.
